Gloves

Cycling Gloves

Cycling gloves come in many style and fabrics. Five fingered gloves offer good warmth and good dexterity. Lobster style (two, or three, fingered) gloves offer a little more warm and adequate dexterity. But mittens probably do not offer enough dexterity for safe cycling.

Pros: Necessary gear on a cold day
Notes: On real cold days go with the Lobster style gloves. They offer the most warmth.

Liners

Glove Liners

Glove Liners are made from thin polypro or silk fabrics. They should fit snug and should not affect your dexterity. When wearing glove liners your outter gloves should be adequately sized to accommodate the extra thinness of the liners.
(Outdoor Recreation Stores)

  Pros: Packable
Notes: Glove Liners can be add to your standard short fingered cycling gloves on warmer winter days.

General Notes:

Go with the lightest pair you can. You need to balance warmth and dexterity when picking a pair of gloves. When purchasing a pair check out how they feel when you use the shifters and brakes. See how they feel when you grip the handlebars. They should never bind or cramp your hands.
